Liverpool has been a major part of the Industrial Revolution, with pioneer building of docks, railways, churches and office blocks. Some of the first buildings in the World with cast iron were; St James on Chesterfield Street; St George’s at Everton, St Michael’s in the Hamlet; and the Oriel Chambers in Water Street. There is also the Albert Dock and, still in Merseyside, the Sankey viaduct was part of the Liverpool to Manchester railway. All of which are Grade I Listed buildings or structures.
Liverpool and its surrounding area have a wide range of natural areas, such as the Mersey and Dee Estuaries, Hilbre island and Freshfield.
